This detail of hieroglyphs is from the entrance to the rock tomb replica, one of the museum's most popular teaching venues. The replica is modeled on elements from several originals in the Beni Hasan desert in Upper Egypt.

Imagine Museum a Success

On June 16 and 17, the museum played host to a diverse group of friends of the museum as part of our planning workshop, Imagine Museum. A rousing success, the event resulted in several immediate plans for the future of the museum.

Tour guides and teachers, neighbors and administrators, members and visitors alike worked together to manifest more of the best the museum has to offer. Some of the most frequently overheard words were: “experience”, “personal”, “interactive”, and “public”. Action teams formed around common concepts, and created a common cause.

Examples of the proposals that have been submitted by these action teams include: experiential displays and tactile exhibits in the museum and the planetarium; formulation of a tour guide speaker’s bureau for visiting schools and nursing homes; children’s events; public awareness programs; and an interactive Park Trail full of hands-on activities.

If you’ve ever wondered what blue lotus smells like, how tall you are in cubits, or how to play senet outdoors, you will soon have the opportunity at Rosicrucian Park.

A special thanks is in order for all of the participants of Imagine Museum. It was very inspiring to meet teachers and visitors who care enough about the museum to work with us for two beautiful summery days!
