This detail of hieroglyphs is from the entrance to the rock tomb replica, one of the museum's most popular teaching venues. The replica is modeled on elements from several originals in the Beni Hasan desert in Upper Egypt.

Nefertiti Identified?

University of York archaeologists are claiming that they have identified the mummy of Nefertiti. This mummy was found in the Valley of the Kings in Tomb 35, the tomb of Amenhotep II. This tomb was used as a cache after a great number of tomb robberies. In this tomb was found an unusual group of people, now claimed to be principal actors of the Amarna Period.
