This detail of hieroglyphs is from the entrance to the rock tomb replica, one of the museum's most popular teaching venues. The replica is modeled on elements from several originals in the Beni Hasan desert in Upper Egypt.

Celebrating 75 years in San José, the Rosicrucian Order is sponsoring a special exhibit at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum showcasing the Order’s history of education and service to San José, the United States, and the world. Dr. H. Spencer Lewis, founder of Rosicrucian Park and leader of the Order, visualized and inaugurated the Park in 1927 with one single, long lot. Rosicrucian Park now occupies nearly an entire city block.

Rare archival photographs, paintings, and twentieth-century “artifacts” tell the story of the Rosicrucian Order’s contributions to the cultural life of San José in the past, present, along with its plans for the future. The exhibit includes:

  • Scientific equipment from the Alchemy Laboratory
  • Dr. Lewis’ original radio broadcast station which he built himself
  • Rare glass slides, some hand-tinted, of Rosicrucian expeditions
  • A recording of Dr. Lewis’ radio broadcasts
  • A special Dennis the Menace visits the Rosicrucian Museum Comic book

Plans for the Park’s new 18th-Dynasty Egyptian Peace Garden will be displayed. Contributions of modern Rosicrucians, including Nicholas Roerich, Marie Corelli, Edith Piaf and Gene Roddenberry are features of the exhibit.

The exhibit is curated by David Cherveny of the Museum.
