Description:
This lovely coffin belonged to a woman of a prominent priestly family of Thebes, commonly called the Besenmut family. She may have died while young, as her name is written like a pet name. Her quality of coffin shows the esteem her family had for her, as well as their wealth. Another coffin in our museum, acquired separately, is from the same family: Usermontu, son of Besenmut.
